Seeing Rainbows: Inspiration for A Better Life

It seems this June we are seeing rainbows around every corner. Of course, for there to be rainbows, there must first be rain. Here in the south, rain usually means storms. And there have been plenty. The picture of a rainbow featured at the top of this post was taken as my husband and I drove home from a recent visit to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I am very pleased with how clearly the photograph turned out as we were moving in the car when the picture was taken. Despite the storm, and the rain, we had to keep moving to reach our destination.

Seeing Rainbows Is Receiving Love Letters

This is another picture of the same rainbow. We had to stop for a bite to eat before we reached home, so a snapped a quick shot. I love the way the trees frame the beautiful colors between clouds. Leaving Tennessee, it looked like we were in for some rough weather. We assumed we would be driving in rain all the way to our house. Somehow, we stayed just beyond the storm for most of our trip.

Seeing this rainbow is a reminder of how much we are loved and thought of. It’s kind of like when you’re a giddy teenager receiving love letters from your boyfriend or girlfriend. This is especially true if you have ever experienced a long-distance relationship. Before we could facetime or text, a little note in the mailbox brought so much comfort. Receiving the letter from your significant other meant you were not forgotten. The same is true when you see a rainbow.

Rainbow On Pride Rock

Looking closer at the rainbow, it reminds me of the sun shining down on Pride Rock. See how it illuminates the hillside. It’s as if the Father is lifting up His creation to show it to the world. Such beauty to behold. What a beautiful image of hope and love. When you see a rainbow, look beyond what you see. See the message behind the colors. Remember who you are and who loves you.

Double Blessing

I took this picture of the same exact rainbow from a different angle. If you look closely, there is the beginning of a second rainbow on the right. Rainbows are rare and don’t last for very long. How much more unlikely it is to capture the fleeting moments a double rainbow appears. This reminds us to not overlook those special sacred moments in life where we are surrounded by the ones we love. Time is fleeting. We must always count our blessings.

Patriotic Promise

As we rounded the corner I couldn’t believe my eyes. The gorgeous, vivid colors of the rainbow gracefully wisped past our country’s flag. This reminds me of God’s original promise to never flood the entire earth again. The United States and countries worldwide have seen challenging times over the past few years. It is reassuring to remember the one who gave us rainbows has never gone away.

A Rainbow Leading Home

No matter where we travel in this life we have the opportunity to follow the rainbows God has given us. It doesn’t mean the weather will always be fair and pleasant. We have to experience pretty rough conditions to see a rainbow sometimes. It’s in these trying times we must focus on the beauty of the rainbow. Such vibrant and peaceful colors. How much more beautiful is what awaits if we keep our faith until the very end. Let us each remember, that when seeing rainbows, we are loved, we are cherished, and there is hope.
