When Pot Roast Explodes in a Microwave

Yes. I realize this is not the pleasant collection of photos I normally share on my blogs. But sometimes, life gets messy. We can help each other by sharing tips on cleaning up life’s messes. So, if your family is human, and they reheat food in the microwave, this will inevitably happen to you as well. I have witnessed this cooking catastrophe on several occasions in my almost 25 years of marriage. Let’s just call it a microwave explosion. I mean, it looks that way to me.

How to Clean the Microwave Fast!

First off, I place the round glass turn tray in the dishwasher. Next, I fill the kitchen sink with just enough hot soapy water to cover the plastic turning thing with wheels on it. Next…the magic step….place a cup of water in the microwave and let it heat for one minute. Almost all the crud softens and releases its firm grip on all the inside microwave surfaces.

Easily Remove Debris From Microwave Surfaces

Carefully remove the cup of water. Grab a damp washcloth with just a drop of liquid dish soap. The softened and released debris in the microwave wipes right off!

Now that all the debris is wiped away, pour some white vinegar onto a moistened washcloth. Wipe the microwave once more including the door. It looks brand new! You may want to buff it with a dry cloth to prevent spots. But look at it! The door is once again shiny and transparent. Do you see the last picture on the right? Yep, that is my reflection on the back of the microwave. It’s just like new!
