Being a cosmetic formulator, I have seen just about everything marketed for making you look and feel younger. There is a simple trick you can do using items you already have in your home to make an immediate difference. Keep reading to discover how to make your skin feel young again. I have yet to meet anyone who tried this trick and didn’t see and feel a drastic transformation within seconds. Try it for yourself. I guarantee THIS WORKS!
What Makes Skin Look Old?
So, what makes our skin look and feel old? It feels and looks old when it’s dry, worn, weathered, crepey, dull, and blah. What makes our skin look and feel more youthful? It feels younger when it’s smooth, soft, supple, fresh, dewy, and amazing. Let’s find out how to make the latter a reality despite our age. I’ll break down the process into five steps. You can change up which ingredients you use depending on the area of your body you are working on. I’ll list some suggested items from your kitchen pantry at the end. Are you ready? Then off we go!
Five Steps to Make Your Skin Feel Young Again
Step 1: First, you need a nice light moisturizer. Any light lotion will do the trick. Massage it in until there is no obvious residue.
Step 2: Next, you need a very heavy thick moisturizer. Work this into your skin on top of the light moisturizer. Believe it or not, the ideal pantry item to use for this step is vegetable shortening! You can alternatively use petroleum jelly. Get a good dollop and massage it in using a repeated circular motion.
Step 3: On top of those two items, you need some grit. Think brown or granulated sugar. I prefer sugars over salts because sugar itself holds moisturizing properties. Salt is dehydrating and it burns little cuts you don’t know are there. OUCH! Take your grit and scrub away. This is especially effective on hands and feet. Take off any rings and be sure to scrub between your toes and fingers. It feels wonderful! You’re getting rid of dry, dead skin while revealing fresher, smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Step 4: Now you need a good cleanser. You could use a drop of liquid dish soap, shampoo, or hand soap. Lather the soap on top of all the other ingredients and rinse everything under warm water. Rub away every last trace of grit. Get ready, you will be amazed at the silky results.
Step 5: Finally, use your light moisturizer once again. Can you believe the difference? It feels like you paid top dollar for an exquisite spa treatment. I never get tired of that feeling of soft youthful skin.
A Few Notes For Making Your Skin Look and Feel Young Again
The surface of whatever you rinse off in will become slippery. Be extra careful if you are using this trick on your feet. They will become so smooth you can lose traction on a hard surface. I’m telling you, it works that well! While I enjoy using coconut oil for many other things, I don’t recommend it for this trick. It melts at skin temperature which makes it difficult to control and keep in place throughout the process. I highly recommend you do each step separately and in the order I presented it. You could throw everything together and get results, but it won’t come close to the benefits experienced when you go through the process one step at a time. This method is best reserved for body parts other than your face. There are better, more delicate options for making improvements above the neck.
Alternative Ingredients From Your Home Pantry
Here is a list of items you can use from around your house.
Step 1: Store-bought light moisturizer, mayonnaise, or plain yogurt.
Step 2: Vegetable shortening, shea butter, petroleum jelly, diaper balm, or lanolin.
Step 3: Brown Sugar, granulated sugar, baking soda, or ground rolled oats.
